How long is a full day hire?
Collect the box at 07:00 and return by 19:00. No partial refunds will be given for returning the box early.
How long is a half day hire?
Collect the box at 07:00 and return by 12:00 or collect at 13:00 and return by 19:00. No partial refunds will be given for returning the box early.
Will I be charged if I return the box late?
Our opening times are 07:00 to 19:00 but we understand that sometimes things run late, and you can never predict the traffic. You will not be penalised for bringing the box back before 22:00, but please keep us updated if you’re running late. Late returns without prior communication will incur a £50 charge.
Can I collect the box the night before?
We know that early starts can be gruelling so wherever possible, we offer free collection the night before, please just ask!
When do I pay?
Bookings are made online via our website, where you will pay a booking fee (50% of the total cost). The remainder is taken in person upon collection via debit or credit card.
Do you hold a damage deposit?
We know that accidents happen. We ask that you please inform us of any damage that has occurred whilst the box was under your care.
On collection of the box, we will take a £150 pre-authorised damage deposit. This will be listed as a ‘pending transaction’ on your banking app, but the money will not actually leave your account. The funds will be released by us on return of the box if no damage was sustained, and no additional charges were accrued. It can take 3 to 7 days for this to update on your banking app. We do not accept cash.
Unlike many other self-drive-hire companies, we decided not to hold the full value of our insurance excess, which is a prohibitive £500. Instead, if you are involved in an accident that necessitates repairs greater than £150, or us claiming through insurance, we will charge you the actual amount of the repairs, up to £500, or the full amount of our excess. Do I need to fill the tank?
Please note, our horsebox runs on DEISEL. The tank will be full when you collect, and we ask that you please return it to us with a full tank. The nearest garage is Shell, 1-3 Station Road, Longfield (0.7 miles from us). Returning without a full tank will incur a £20 charge in addition to the price of the fuel required to fill the tank.
How many miles can I drive per day?
We have a 200 mile per day limit, anything thereafter will incur a 35p per mile fee.
Can anyone drive the box?
Only the named driver whose full details were collected on booking is allowed to drive the horsebox.
What happens if I break down or am involved in an accident?
Our horsebox is fully insured for self-drive-hire with fully comprehensive insurance. We provide alternative horse transport if the horsebox is not repairable at the roadside along with overnight livery if this is required. Please note that is your (the horse owner’s) responsibility to ensure that your horse is insured to travel and appropriate public liability cover.
Do I need to clean the box out before I return it?
We pride ourselves on our immaculately presented horsebox and so we ask that you please ensure any droppings and bedding are swept out of the horsebox prior to return, as well as any left-over lunch in the cab! Don’t forget all your belongings, but if you do, we will make sure they make their way back to you.
Can I leave a vehicle at the collection point?
Cars can be parked for free on the side of Everglade Close when you come to collect the box. Usually no problems finding a space at 07:00!
Do I need to bring anything with me when I collect the box?
Please bring a debit or credit card to pay the remainder of your hire fee and to allow us to take the damage deposit via pre-authorisation. We do not currently have the facilities to accept payments via Apple Pay or Google Pay.

Can I cancel my booking?
If you wish to cancel more than 14 days in advance of your hire date, a full refund of your booking deposit will be made. Cancellations made less than 14 days in advance of your hire date will not be refunded.
What is the payload?
The payload is up to 1100kg which includes water, fuel, passengers, horses, tack, dogs and children. Please note that exceeding the maximum authorised mass (3500kg) will expose you to prosecution, as well voiding our insurance.
